The Matharpacady Residents Welfare Association organised the Whist Drive at St. Isabel’s High School hall earlier this evening, 17th April 2018. Mr. Gerard Viegas, alongwith Stanislaus Baptista helped to conducted the Whist Drive. The  forty happy  participants were eagerly applying their minds and skills at this enjoyable card game in friendship and cheer, in two sessions of six card games each.   Hot tea, biscuits and piping hot snacks were served at the break, followed by some home made chocolates and sweets. All these snacks were generously sponsored by some of our participants.

Attractive cash prizes were awarded to many winners from the highest to even the lowest scores.  The delighted recipients – Mr. Mariano Vaz,  with 97 points was the first prize winner with the highest points. Incidentally 97 points happens to be the highest points scored so far during all our Whist Drives. The prize for the highest score in the first half went to Mr. Brigalds D’Souza with 51 points and the prize for the highest score in the second half was awarded to Mr. Glenn Vongeyer with 48 points. The prize for the lady with the lowest score was shared by three ladies – Mrs. Claire Fernandes, Mrs. Clare Figueiredo, and Mrs. Joanita D’Costa  (70 points each) and the prize for the gent with the lowest score was shared between Mr. Agnello Fernandes and Mr. Maxim Rego (64 points each). All the winners received their gifts to much applause from all the others present.

Mr. Gerard Viegas, thanked the participants and guests for making this a happy memorable function, besides the Trustees & Management of St. Isabels High School for the use of their premises. Mrs. Carole Viegas informed all about the Novena at the Holy Cross Oratory starting from Sunday, 22nd April 2018 from 7.30 pm daily and the Cross Feast Day Mass on 1st May 2018 at 7.00 pm.
